A recent study published in JAMA Cardiology found that individuals who sat for 6-8 hours daily had a 12-13% expanded risk for early demise and coronary illness, while the people who sat for over 8 hours every day increased the risk factor to over 20%. The study, carried out over an average of 11 years established that high measures of sitting time were related to increased risk of demise and comorbidities, especially in low-income, and lower-middle-income countries.

Dr. Scott Lear stated that for people sitting over 4 hours per day, supplanting a half-hour of sitting with practice decreases the risk factor by 2%. He added that in Canada, the implementation of movement rules has opened a genuine door for individuals to build their action and decrease the possibility of heart disease.

He also added that the study found a combination of sitting and inactivity accounted for 8.8% of all deaths which is close to the death rate caused by smoking (10%). Hence, it is a global problem, that can be fixed with simple measures.
